Alternative Dance and Exercise Comes to Dunedin!
Beledi Bay (pronounced Bell-a-dee) is probably the area's funnest alternative dance and exercise studios. Owned by Chandra Wood and Kimara Moon - the current class schedule consists different styles and traditions of Bellydance, with African Dance to begin on Aug 18th, and Hawaiian/Polynesian class a bit later this month. We'd like to add the entertaining Zumba, Yoga for dancers, Mat Pilates, Hooping, and more in the near future. We're not just a teaching studio - but a performing studio as well! With two troupes (Yemanja and Satori), not to mention the many other beautiful dancers who have made Beledi Bay Dance Studio their home. I'm sure you'll find a place here among us as well! No previous dance experience required
Often stereotyped as a dance of seduction, bellydance is actually a wholesome and joyful dance appropriate for men and women of all ages and physical levels. The perfect workout for all of us who are; well, too lazy to go to the gym. Imagine an easy, fun, yet empowering form of exercise and artistic expression that you actually look forward to doing. Sounds almost impossible, but it's true.

Let Kimara and the other instructors challenge and guide you through the tranfiguring process of becoming a belly dancer...
Chandra, having experienced first hand the many benefits of bellydance, can attest to what this lovely art form has done for her. She has lost 103 pounds and gone from a size 24 to an 16 in a year and a half. Also helping her recover from serious automobile accident (from which she was paralyzed for a time) by increasing balance, flexibility, and physical stamina.
